After receiving her teaching certification with the renowned American Vini Yoga instructor Gary Kraftsow, Valerie was certified by Yoga Alliance. Vini Yoga's linage comes from Krishnamacharya in the tradition of Patanjali.
Vini yoga instructs proper application based on the situation - the asana is adapted to fit the individual student rather than fitting the student into the asana. For example, in head to knee pose (utanasana) the goal is not to touch your toes but rather to stretch the hamstrings. Vini yoga adapts the yoga to help the student at that particular time.
The importance of the breath is the key to one's yoga practice. Valerie has advanced training in using the breath (pranayama) to bring your practice to a deeper level.
